Reddit is one of the world’s most popular social media sites.
It has over 430 million monthly active users and over 100,000 active communities. With so many users, you will find people who need to be blocked.
Reddit gave its users the ability to block other people in 2016.
The bad news: It’s not a block feature but a mute feature.
Blocking someone on Reddit is a touchy subject. Blocking someone means that the blocked person cannot interact. They can’t see your posts, comments, and messages. It’s important to know what blocking involves before deciding to block.
Why would you block a user on Reddit?
There are a few reasons to block someone on Reddit. The first and most expected reason is that the user is incredibly annoying or rude.
This could be anything from spamming your inbox with messages or insulting you. Sometimes you might block a user if he is trying to spread misinformation or abuse the system.
Trolling on the internet can be a terrible experience. It’s not something Reddit is proud to host. Most users find this platform for sharing content more creative and open-minded than other places online. However, you might encounter genuine bullies.
Others may just be looking to get under your skin with harassing messages.
Other reasons to block a user on Reddit:
- To create boundaries
Sometimes we just need some space. If a user constantly sends you messages or requests, you may block them.
They’re posting personal information about you without your consent. This is against Reddit’s rules, and you may report them.
- They make you feel insecure
- They bring back memories of a difficult period in your life
- To remove negativity
Removing negativity is especially important for people who use social media to manage their mental health. If you find that a particular user is causing you more harm than good, you can block that user.
If you want to reduce the number of future nasty episodes, it is best to block them. Reddit will stop the blocked user from contacting you. You won’t have any more hassle or trouble.
The blocking feature on Reddit is a little different from other social media sites. No matter what device or OS you are using, you may take steps to block someone with just one click! Sometimes people use the term “muting” instead of blocking.
