NordLayer Review | VPN Service For Businesses On The Go

Another week at Productivity Land, and yet another round of reviews of our favorite products.

This time, it was a little different because we were looking to post a NordLayer Review, something that doubles down on what the software has to offer when compared to many other VPN platforms out there.

Also, this review was a little unusual for us because we have knee-capped SaaS products primarily. They don’t require installation, and you can just Sign Up for an account and go on a test drive without any issues.

For NordLayer review, the program had to be downloaded and installed. It might seem like an extra step before one can actually use the product, but the installation is more of a ‘one-time setup.’ Doing so is essential as it enables instant access to tons of features that NordLayer offers. Not to mention the fact that they’ve got top-notch security protocols and literally everything that you’d expect from a state-of-the-art VPN suite.

Here Are The 5 Best Things We Absolutely Loved About NordLayer

1. A One-Off Control Panel

The main thing that really attracted us was the ability to access multiple user-level accounts from one control panel. Since this is a VPN service for businesses, the multi-level account accessibility feature is definitely something that intrigued us to explore the product more.

Also, if you are looking to pick one user from the crowd and grant that person role-based access, you can do that from the centralized control panel quite easily.

2. Hassle-Free Billing Experience

Billing isn’t an issue anymore with NordLayer, since admins/ power-users are billed against the total number of users on that account.

It seems like the dev and marketing team understood the inconvenience that usually comes with such VPN services’ billing aspect. Therefore, they went out on a limb and created a centralized billing module to keep all your transactions, paid bills, and upcoming charges on one platform.

3. Dedicated Account Manager

Regardless of whichever paid plan, you sign up for, NordLayer will always have a dedicated account manager for you. Of course, if you are on a low-tier $7 plan, the support response might go out on a stretch, but rest assured, they are always available to respond to customer inquiries.

In case of any technical issues, an account specialist can be reached. They will guide you through every step to rectify the problem.

4. Server Layout and Infrastructure

Finally, the part that makes every VPN service or tool worthwhile is the server infrastructure.

NordLayer stands well up to its reputation due to multiple servers sprawled over 30+ countries. So, if John is sitting all the way into a different part of the world, he will have the same level of query response as you due to flawless server-side executions.

As far as streaming random videos on different websites went, we didn’t face any lags whatsoever. The overall experience was smooth and up to the mark.

Device Connectivity & O.S. Support

  • Windows
  • Mac OSX
  • iOS
  • Android
  • Linux

Once your company has set up the NordLayer account for you, you can access it through Laptops, P.C.s, handheld devices, and literally anything on God’s green earth – as long as the O.S. is supported!

5. Support

There are various ways to contact the NordLayer support team, this is why it ranks high on providing support.

The moment you signup you will be given an account manager to walk you through the whole process of setup.

You will get help documents, onboarding emails, email support, and you can even talk to a representative via live chat.

What About Overall User Level Security?

Security is one particular aspect of any online networking platform where compromises can’t be made. Period.

In NordLayer’s case, your remote team can access your own company’s data or other foreign material scattered over different online platforms through multiple security levels. For instance, the encryption module is based on an AES 256 Bit architecture, guaranteeing ironclad security for your entire team.

Safe surfing is indeed and genuinely there.

Unlike those shoddy VPN software where despite seeing an icon for safe surfing, the reality might be different. NordLayer ensures complete privacy for your traffic through multiple security layers. AES 256 Bit encryption is just part of the entire security suite.

Moving on, while you or your team is busy accessing international websites that are sometimes geo-locked, you won’t have any issues.

For instance, we had a pretty hard time accessing Amazon Prime U.S. from Express VPN, BetterNet, and other VPN programs.

Yes, they are cheap, and the latter is more of a plugin than a complete VPN solution, but we wanted to see whether those programs worked as advertised. To our dismay, many VPNs failed to connect to Amazon Prime. It looks like Bezos has deployed some pretty intelligent sniffers to bypass any attempt to access Prime’s online content from outside the U.S.

Luckily, in NordLayer’s case, Amazon Prime was accessible 24/7. We particularly accessed the website and played random videos at different times of the day to see if the VPN platform worked. Needless to say, none of the NordLayer reviewers at Productivity Land were disappointed.

We love that you can access data from 33 countries, where online surfing and safe browsing touts out the same flawless experience every time.

Why Should You Use NordLayer & Not Just Any Other VPN Service?

For starters, NordLayer is scalable. You can expand or shrink the account size to replicate your team’s number.

That means that if you don’t have many users, you can sign up for an ‘Advanced Account’ and pay against your active user base. However, if you have reduced your team size, you can have your operational plan downgraded to the ‘Basic’ level to carry on with business as usual.

It’s a win-win situation for all since NordLayer has pretty flexible billing options. We already talked about the centralized billing hub earlier.

Overall, our experience with NordLayer was worthwhile.

The two-factor authentication was an extra level of security that wasn’t expected. However, it did impress us enough to continue using the program for as long as required. If you are a business owner or a contractor with a small team of people deployed across different remote locations, NordLayer is worth a shot.
